Ideas come first – usually visually driven. Next come scribbles, not stories, as I am first and foremost an artist not a writer – but very soon I have to stop drawing and concentrate on story because without a good story the scribbles can never become a book.
When the story is fixed in my mind I design the layout of the book (what is going to appear on each page) then finally I design and execute the final artwork.
